The Feathery Folk

'Enriching the lives of birds and people'

Assistant Avian Trainer

and Head Conservation Officer

Abi joined us as our Assistant Avian Trainer in July 2017. She graduated from Reaseheath College completing a BSc in Wildlife Conservation and Ecology.

Alongside completing her degree she volunteered at Reaseheath Zoo with their Birds of Prey, learning basic handling, maintenance and training. She also completed work experience at Gauntlet Bird of Prey Centre and followed on to a part time position as a Falconer at a small company named 'Wings' during her last year at university.

Abi is especially passionate about our Discovery Zone which is attached to our event stand. Having studied the feeding habits of wild barn owls for her dissertation, she thoroughly enjoys teaching kids all about the topics of birds of prey and helping with dissecting owl pellets!

She gained her position as Head Conservation Officer after becoming more involved in our local wildlife and joined a barn owl group, which aims to increase their numbers here in Cheshire. Abi also chose this years fundraiser 'Project Lugger' with
which we have managed to raise £350.64 so far!

One of her most recent activities is becoming part of the committee for The Female Falconers Club, which is now the second largest falconry group in the UK.
